Transplant has started!

Everything has started off well. We got a total of 400ml from the donor (originally we had talked about only needing 50ml) so instead of just giving her the full draw they spun down the sample to remove red blood and plasma. This allows them to give a lot more stem cells because 400ml is too much volume in total. They have to be careful at the density of cells per volume so they are running slow (we had expected this) and should be done in 2-3 hours. Hopefully the high volume will speed engraftment though there isn't any real evidence for this. The only known evidence is that a low volume slows engraftment.

Getting ready for the transplant with a change of clothes!

Clara says "Give me my bone marrow!"

Our nurses are hooking it up.

And TADA! Here it is... Not very dramatic but amazing!
